history

In 1514 the place was listed for the first time in the church accounts of the Reformed community in Radevormwald at that time. The spelling of the first mention was "von der Leyen". The von der Leyen entrepreneurial family, mentioned from 1579 and resident here, named themselves after the place , who emigrated to Krefeld in 1656 and rose there to become famous silk barons .
