history

"Unckincfelde" is the place name in a list about "War damage caused by the devastation of the troops of the Archbishop of Cologne, Dietrich von Moers" from the years 1433/1434. A list of the war-related destruction of the Thirty Years' War in Radevormwald from 1655 and 1656 shows the status of “almost all” destroyed or “deserted” for the properties in Önkfeld.

The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 already shows two separate settlement areas, but designates both with "OenKfeld". In the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844 the place name "Oberste Önkfeld" appears. From the official topographic map ( Prussian new record ) from 1892 to 1894, the place name in use today, Oberönkfeld, is given.
