Landwehr is a village in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

location

The place is in the north of the urban area on the border with the urban area of Ennepetal . This border also marks the areas of Sauerland ( Westphalia ) and Bergisches Land ( Rhineland ). history

The section of the Bergische Landwehr , which passed through the forest on the northern border of the town, and which stretched from Wuppertal-Elberfeld to Marienheide-Krommenohl, protected the Bergische territory from incursions from the Märkische. The local researcher Gerd Helbeck dates the emergence of this Landwehr to the early 14th century.

In the map topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825, the place is named "ad Landwehr". This map shows three building plans on two enclosed courtyards. The place name "Landwehr" in use today is used on topographical maps from the edition from 1892 to 1894.
