It is a place in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

The place is in the north of the urban area. The neighboring towns are Remlingrade , Birken , Im Kamp , and Herkingrade . The steamer Siefen and three other smaller unnamed Siefen originate in the west of Sondern . These almost 200 m long bodies of water each flow into the Siefen steamer, which first flows into the Bach steamer and then into the Wupper .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 170 in the city council of Radevormwald.

According to documents in the archives of the Reformed parish Radevormwald in a document in connection with the description of the boundaries of the Freihof Radevormwald, "Sunderen" was first mentioned around the year 1400.

The name refers to a so-called coupon out a special stately property.

In 1715 the farm is listed on the Topographia Ducatus Montani with "Sondern". The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 shows the place called "Sundern". The Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844 and the following cards use the name Sondern.

In 1815/16 the place had 17 residents. In 1832 the place belonged to the parish Remlingrade of the rural outskirts of the mayor's office Radevormwald . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had four residential buildings and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 38 people lived in the village, all of them Protestant faith. In 1888, five houses with 39 inhabitants are listed in the community encyclopedia of the Rhine Province .
