Around the year 1050 Wönkhausen is mentioned for the first time in connection with “possession of the Reichsabtei Werden ” under the place name “Vohinchuson” . The tax lists of the city and citizenship of Radevormwald from 1663 include 21 taxable citizens in the village over 15 years of age.
