history

In 1523, Oege was first mentioned with certainty in Radevormwalder church accounts. In the archive of the Protestant parish of Hückeswagen, the place name “Oeye” is listed in a list of donations for the year 1481, but it cannot be clearly assigned to Oege.

In 1715 the place was named "Oeu" on the Topographia Ducatus Montani . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 labeled the village with the name "In der Oede". In the official topographic map ( Prussian new record) from 1892 to 1894, the place is named "Öge" and from the topographic map of 1938 the spelling of the place name "Oege", which is still used today, is used.

In 1815/16 the place had 13 inhabitants. In 1832 the place belonged to the parish Remlingrade of the rural outskirts of the mayor's office Radevormwald . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had two residential buildings and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time ten residents lived in the place, all of them Protestant faith. In 1888, four houses with 20 residents are listed in the community dictionary of the Rhine Province .

In 1888 the railway line of the Wuppertal Railway ( timetable KBS 403) was opened. There was a train stop in the village. This stop did not have the place name Oege, but was named after the place Remlingrade, which is 2 km away.
