Köttershaus is a court in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

The Hofschaft is located in the east of Radevormwald directly on the city limits to Halver . The neighboring towns are called Schmittensiepen , Oberschmittensiepen , Holte and Jägershaus . Köttershaus can be reached via a dead end street near Oberschmittensiepen and a side street that branches off from the federal road 229 in the village of Eich .

A tributary of the Hengsmeker brook rises to the south-east and finally flows into the Ennepe via the Hartmecke .

Köttershaus belongs to the Radevormwald district 181.

history

In 1521 Köttershaus was first mentioned in church accounts of the Reformed parish of Radevormwald under the place name "Kotten". Starting with the topographic map from 1892 to 1894, the place name "Köttershaus" is used in more recent maps.

The section of the Bergische Landwehr , which passed close to the Hofschaft and reached from Wuppertal-Elberfeld to Marienheide-Krommenohl, protected the Bergische territory from incursions from the Märkisch region. The local researcher Gerd Helbeck dates the emergence of this Landwehr to the early 14th century.
