Oberste Mühle is a village in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

The place is in the north of the urban area of Radevormwald in the valley of the Uelfe . The neighboring towns are called Unterste Mühle , Heidt , Uelfe IV , and Radevormwald . The Heidter Siepen , which rises near the village of Heidt, flows into the Uelfe in Oberste Mühle.

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 170 in the city council of Radevormwald.

history

In 1512, Oberste Mühle was listed in the church accounts of the Reformed parish of Radevormwald with the designation "overste Moelle / superiori mola".

A contract between the church and the town of Radevormwald from August 1611 shows that the “top and bottom mills” owned by the church in Radevormwald could often not be operated in summer and winter because “the water to the mills is too weak and low ”. In order to avoid this “grinding break”, the grain had to be ground in neighboring villages when the water was scarce, the city council of Radevormwald planned to build a windmill on one of the city's towers. For the achievable rental income, the church feared that “this would reduce the rent” and that the mill would no longer be profitable for the church alone. On August 21, 1611, the city of Radevormwald therefore took over the upper mill in Erbpach.

In 1715, on the Topographia Ducatus Montani map, the name “mühl” was found at the location. In the map Topographischeaufnahme der Rheinlande from 1825, a mill symbol and an enclosed courtyard are shown for the place. Attribution is also missing here. The Prussian premiere from 1840 to 1843 names the place "Henzen Mühle". In the official topographic map ( Prussian New Admission ) from 1892 to 1894, the place name "Oberste M." is given.
