Joe Doyle

Joseph "Joe" Doyle (born June 1, 1936 , † August 8, 2009 in Blackrock , County Dublin ) is an Irish politician ( Fine Gael ).

Doyle grew up in the Dublin borough of Donnybrook . He was a member of the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament , from 1982 to 1987 . After he was beaten in the 1987 elections, he was instead elected to the Seanad Éireann , the House of Lords . This was followed by a further term in the Dáil Éireann from 1989 to 1992, before Doyle was again from 1993 to 2002 the Seanad Éireann.

Doyle was also a member of Dublin City Council from 1979 to 2004 . As such, he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin from July 1998 to July 1999 .

Doyle was married and had three children.
