Culture award of the Oberallgäu district

The Oberallgäu district awards the Oberallgäu district culture prize to people or groups of people who have made particularly noteworthy artistic achievements in one of the following areas:

  • Visual arts
  • literature
  • music
  • performing Arts
  • Homeland and folklore
  • Monument preservation

The spectrum of homeland and customs is very diverse. Dealing with the topic of local history is just as much a part of it as maintaining traditions, everyday and festival culture. The prize money (since 2006: 2,000 euros) is raised by the Oberallgäu district, but foundation and sponsorship funds are also used.

  • 1991 (visual arts): Arnulf Heimhofer (Burgberg) and Gerhard Weiß (Kempten)
  • 1992 (dialect poetry): Rosa Geiß (Wiggensbach), Blanka Zettler (Bad Hindelang) and Hans Seeweg (Oberstdorf)
  • 1993 (visual arts): Willi Tannheimer (Bad Hindelang)
  • 1997 (visual arts): Gundula Enzensberger (Sonthofen)
  • 1998 (composition prize, financed by a sponsor): Gottfried Veit, Prof. Richard Zettler, Dieter Herborg
  • 2001 (visual arts): Christoph Finkel (Bad Hindelang)
  • 2003 (visual arts): Stefan Winkler (Immenstadt), Marie-Luise Althaus (dialect poetry, financed by a sponsor)
  • 2004 (visual arts): Magdalena Willems-Pisarek
  • 2006: Georg Bentele-Ücker (Oberstaufen), Irene Gehring (Gunzesried)
  • 2007: Manfred u. Sabine Fink (Niedersonthofen) (financed by the Kaiser Sigwart Foundation)
  • 2009 (Heimat- und Customsflege): Heimatverein Oberstdorf eV (Oberstdorf) for the Wilde Mändle dance
  • 2010 (visual arts): Gunther le Maire (Immenstadt)
  • 2013 (performing arts / theater): Show group WIR 18, Freilichtspielgemeinschaft Altusried, youth theater Martinszell
  • 2014 Anton Wintergerst (dialect poetry), Josef Bettendorf, Hubert Jäger and Erhard Ott
