Postage stamp year 1969 of the Deutsche Bundespost

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Block edition fifty years of women's suffrage ( Michel block number 5)

The postage stamp year 1969 of the Deutsche Bundespost comprised 36  special stamps and one definitive stamp . Five stamps with the same motif and value were also issued by the Landespostdirektion Berlin .

Three of these stamps were only available together as a block of stamps to commemorate 50 years of women's suffrage in Germany . The women depicted there were honored a second time from 1986 within the definitive series Women in German History .

All postage stamps issued since January 1, 1969 had unlimited postage validity and there was no expiration date as in previous years. With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete. However, the stamps of this year could be used until June 30, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th, 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.

Remarks

  1. There were few exceptions, however; the definitive stamp series German Buildings from Twelve Centuries , the Brandenburg Gate and the special stamps in honor of the 1968 Summer Olympics in the city of Mexico were valid without restriction. These stamps were issued before 1969.
  2. In the same year the German Democratic Republic issued two special stamps on the same topic.
  3. There is a very rare slightly different version that was only released for the press in October 1969 to promote this brand. This edition can be recognized by a small rubber stamp pattern on the lower edge. See also: List of unissued stamps from Germany
  4. The last stamp in this series; In 1970, a new series of definitive stamps began to be issued with a portrait of Gustav Heinemann .
