Heinz Schillinger
Heinz Schillinger (born July 27, 1929 in Nuremberg ; † February 17, 2008 ) was a German graphic artist .
Schillinger learned the profession of positive retoucher at the Sebaldus publishing house in Nuremberg. He then completed an apprenticeship at the Nuremberg technical school for the graphic industry. In 1950 he started at the time of Ellingen outsourced Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg his graphic design studies at Max grains .
In 1959 Schillinger founded his own graphic studio.
The Nuremberg artist achieved fame as a designer of postage stamps . Starting in 1962, he had won almost 400 competitions organized by the Deutsche Bundespost and later by the Federal Ministry of Finance . In 1989 his postage stamp Limburg Cathedral ( Michel -Nr. 1250 ) was named the “most beautiful postage stamp in the world” by the Universal Postal Union . His last stamp appeared in February 2008: “ 1000 Years of the Bochum-Stiepel Village Church ”.
The poster for the 900th anniversary of Nuremberg and the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt as well as the logo of the toy factory BIG come from his pen .
In 1979 Schillinger was appointed professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, where he held the chair for graphic design until 1991 .
