Franking marks from Deutsche Post AG
Not for the official release program of the Federal Ministry of Finance for postage stamps, include indicia since summer 2008 offered directly by Deutsche Post AG Handyporto and Internet brand .
The so-called Handyporto is to order via the mobile phone via SMS a number code transmitted to be entered instead of the stamp by hand on the broadcast. In contrast, the so-called internet brand is acquired by the sender via the World Wide Web , paid for electronically, printed out as a machine-readable barcode and affixed to the shipment, similar to the STAMPIT . While only the usual postage amount has to be paid with the internet brand, the mobile phone postage costs not only a surcharge of currently 40 cents for a standard letter or postcard, but also the cost of sending the SMS.
It must be noted that both are no longer a postage stamp in the strict sense of the word because they lack the character of uniformity - identical pieces are produced in larger editions.
