Postage stamps from the Federal Republic of Germany in 1999

The 1999 stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany were issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance . The German Post AG was responsible for the distribution and sale. The year comprised 48 individual special stamps , six block editions with 12 special stamps and a new machine brand . As a special feature, two stamps with holograms were issued this year . In addition, the stamp issued in the previous year for the Expo 2000 (Michel-No .: 2009) was issued on June 10, 1999 as a stamp booklet, this stamp can be recognized by the missing perforation (cut) above or below.

Originally, all stamps issued had unlimited postage validity . With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete.

The stamps of this year could be used up until June 30th, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.
