Treasures from German museums

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Treasures from German Museums is a stamp series that has been published in the Federal Republic of Germany since 2013 . It follows on from the previous series German Painting of the 20th Century (1992–1996, 2002–2004), Kulturstiftung der Länder (1999–2003) and German Painting (2005–2013). So far, two editions have appeared annually with new brand motifs. In addition to paintings, sculptures, handicrafts and archaeological finds were presented. Each object came from a different museum.

The brand designs for this series were created by graphic designers Stefan Klein and Olaf Neumann from Iserlohn . The postage stamps sold by Deutsche Post AG are usually printed in the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin. Three motifs were excluded from this: Mourning women from 2015 were produced by the company Giesecke & Devrient in the Leipzig securities printing company and the Visitation of 2014 and the birth of Christ with Adoration of the Shepherds were printed by the Bagel Security-Print printing company in Mönchengladbach . The stamps appeared as multicolored offset printing on coated, white and fluorescent postage stamp paper DP 2. All motifs were produced as wet-adhesive special postage stamps, some motifs were also offered on self-adhesive composite material. The stamps have no uniform postage value.
