Lighthouses

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German special postage stamp series Leuchttürme has been published since 2004 with 32 values issued so far (as of July 2020). Until 2018, two stamps were issued every year at the usual domestic postage levels for postcards (45 euro cents ) and letters; only in 2011 a stamp appeared with the value of 90 euro cents for a compact letter. The lighthouses special postage stamp series has a larger circulation than the post horn set and is therefore the best-selling series of Deutsche Post. It is published by the Federal Ministry of Finance and sold under license by Deutsche Post.

Issue occasion

"The special postage stamps with the motifs of the lighthouses" x "and" y "are part of the" Lighthouses "series, which want to draw attention to the diversity of German lighthouses in a loose sequence."

motive

The designs for the series came from Professor Johannes Graf from Dortmund up to and including 2018 . The motifs of the individual brands - with the exception of the “Roter Sand” brand published in 2004 - are supplied by the photographer Reinhard Scheiblich, with whom Graf is working on this series. Scheiblich only photographs the lighthouses in June in order to get an even incidence of light on all brands. Graf then reworks the images on the computer. Each year, a brick tower was selected as well as a tower with a color scheme of black, white, red or green. A lighthouse stamp will appear annually from 2019. It can then also show towers that do not fit into the aforementioned color scheme.

Each stamp has a size of 35.0 × 35.0 millimeters. They were printed on coated white fluorescent postage stamp paper DP 2 in multicolor offset printing at Bagel Security-Print GmbH & Co. KG in Mönchengladbach in miniature sheets of ten wet-adhesive stamps (2 × 5) each.

Brand sets and brand boxes with self-adhesive stamps with these lighthouse motifs appeared several times.
