With Dornbusch Lighthouse is the lighthouse with the official designation beacon Dornbusch / Hiddensee the island Hiddensee in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on the Baltic Sea with the international order number C 2588 , respectively.
The lighthouse stands on the approximately 70 meter high Schluckswiek or Schluckwieksberg in Dornbusch , the highlands in the north of the island.

The lighthouse has been climbed 102 steps since 1994. So that it doesn't get too tight upstairs, only 15 visitors can visit it at the same time. A minimum age of six years applies to viewing. From wind force 6 the tower remains closed for safety reasons.
Technical
The lighthouse was built as a brick structure in 1887/1888. Commissioning took place on November 19, 1888. It was rebuilt from 1927 to 1929 and provided with a reinforced concrete jacket. The tower is 27.5 m high and has a fire height of 94.7 m above the mean water of the Baltic Sea. The viewing gallery is at a height of 20 meters. Its beacon, a sector light, has the following visibility: white 24.9 nautical miles (45 kilometers) and red 21.3 nautical miles (38 kilometers). The identifier is 0.8 seconds light, 9.2 seconds dark (lightning-fire). A metal halide lamp shines as a light source in the lighting apparatus . The Stralsund Waterways and Shipping Office has been responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the tower since 1990 .
Postage stamps
The first postage stamp showing the Dornbusch lighthouse was issued on May 13, 1975 by the GDR's Deutsche Post . The brand belongs to the series of lighthouses, beacons, beacons and pier lights with a value of 25 pfennigs . The design comes from Jochen Bertholdt .
On July 2, 2009 , Deutsche Post issued a special stamp with the image of the Dornbusch lighthouse worth 55 euro cents in the Lighthouses series . The design for the postage stamp is from Prof. Johannes Graf based on a photograph by Reinhard Scheiblich .
