Postage stamps from the Federal Republic of Germany in 2009
The 2009 stamp year of the Federal Republic of Germany comprised 50 individual special stamps , three stamp blocks with four stamps and five self-adhesive special stamps. There were no new editions of the definitive stamp series flowers , but self-adhesive branded boxes and a wet-adhesive large roll of two values were issued.
For the first time, citizens were able to submit suggestions for stamp motifs in an ideas competition that was launched in 2007. This resulted in the two stamps, 100th birthday of Heinz Erhardt and 20 years of the Peaceful Revolution . In addition, the Federal Ministry of Finance launched the News series , which is also about two topics that were only announced in the course of the year, this was Germany on September 3rd and Tier des Jahres 2010 on November 12th, this brand appeared in addition to normal sheet-fed printing as a roll stamp .
380,000 people took part in the traditional election for Germany's most beautiful . More than a tenth (10.57 percent) of them voted for the winning brand Sunset . Second place went to the Eifel National Park block edition with 8.22% , while the Kleinbahn Harz sandman brand from the For Young People surcharge series came third with 7.4% . On December 16, 2010, the award ceremony for the most beautiful postage stamp in the world took place in Beijing , where the charity stamp series Heavenly Apparitions won first place. The same stamp was also voted the most beautiful postage stamp in Europe in 2009 with 17.35% of the votes, ahead of a Norwegian stamp with 14.22% and a stamp from the Faroe Islands with 11.54% of the vote.
