Postage stamps 2012 of the Federal Republic of Germany

The 2012 stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany were presented on March 8, 2011 by the responsible Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) . The year comprised 72 stamps (originally 53 stamps were planned, the difference between wet and self-adhesive stamps results) from the areas of “State and Society”, “Art and Culture”, “Science and Technology”, “Nature and Environment ”,“ Sport ”and“ Volunteering ”and should provide information about people and events that affect people to this day. There were also commemorative euro coins for five stamps.

At the end of May 2012 it became known that it was after Pope Benedict XVI. 2007 and Jean Monnet 1977 on October 11, 2012 a stamp in honor of Helmut Kohl as “ Chancellor of Unity - Honorary Citizen of Europe ” . The fact that people are depicted on a postage stamp of the Federal Republic of Germany during their lifetime is otherwise rather the exception.

Between 1995 and 2010, Deutsche Post AG (DPAG) was the exclusive licensee for the official postage stamps with the national designation "Germany". This license agreement between BMF and DPAG has been extended to 2012. In October 2012, the approved Federal Network Agency , the postage increase from 2013 for standard letters from 0.55 euros to 0.58 euros, thus increasing by 1,997 the first time for postage. The maxi letter with a weight of up to 1,000 grams will also cost € 2.40 instead of € 2.20 from January 1st. The prices for shipments abroad are also increasing. There is no increase for domestic postcards (€ 0.45), compact letters (€ 0.90) and large letters (€ 1.45). To mark the occasion, two new definitive stamps from the Flowers series were launched on December 6, 2012 at 58 and 240 euro cents. As early as November 2nd, stamps worth three cents were available for standard letters in all post offices and on the Internet, which serve as a supplementary value. Of the supplementary stamp, 440 million stamps were printed. This made it indirectly clear that Deutsche Post AG would issue the 2013 vintage on order.
