German painting of the 20th century

German Painting of the 20th Century is a series of stamps from the Federal Republic of Germany. The first stamps appeared at the time of the Deutsche Bundespost in 1992. Deutsche Post AG continued the series from 2002 to 2004 after a long break. All brands were designed by Ernst and Lorli Jünger . The series was superseded in 2005 by the German painting stamp series designed by Werner Hans Schmidt .

Issue occasion

“With the special postage stamp series“ German Painting of the 20th Century ”, the themes of“ Expressionism ”,“ Impressionism ”and“ Art Nouveau ”are continued; the series is intended to pay tribute to the major representatives of German painting of the 20th century in a loose sequence. "

Printing process

The stamps were printed in multi-color offset printing in the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin in landscape format with 10 pieces on the sheet on coated white fluorescent postage stamp paper DP 2, with a size of 55 × 32.8 mm per stamp.
