Post (stamp series)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Post is the name of a special series of postage stamps from the Federal Republic of Germany , which is issued by the responsible Federal Ministry of Finance . Deutsche Post AG is responsible for sales and distribution . The series has been appearing at irregular intervals and with numbers of brands since 2000. While in the early years mostly only one brand was released per year, since 2005 four brands have been released over several months per year that fit together thematically. The circulation, format and stamp artist vary from year to year.

The series must not be confused with the stamps on the day of the postage .

Issue occasion

"The series aims to make modern people aware of the advantages of the letter medium and to present the special character of the letter as an individual message."

- The postage stamps of the Federal Republic of Germany - Yearbook 2006, p. 14

“The postage stamp series“ Post ”brings people's awareness of the letter medium and emphasizes that messages written on paper and sent as letters are indispensable even in the age of digital media and are perceived by the recipient as more personal and private than SMS and e-mail. Mail . "

Trivia

If you take a closer look at the stamp "with the delivery car (West)" from the series "Letter carrier in Germany" from 2005, you can still see the Deutsche Bundespost logo on the bag that hangs on the mail car. The equipment procured by the former Central Post Office, such as transport equipment ("post boxes"), is so robust that some of them are still in use 20 years after the privatization of the German Federal Post Office.

Individual evidence

  1. A partial edition of the Maxiset also contained 12 decorative stickers, which were also designed by James Rizzi. In contrast to the normal Maxiset, these were sold shrink-wrapped.
