The Day of the stamp (TOB) based on an idea by Hans von Rudolphi back and was first in December 1935 in Austria committed. It should point out the importance of the postage stamp for the post office and the general public through exhibitions, special stamps, etc.
In Germany , the day of the postage stamp was celebrated for the first time on January 7, 1936, the birthday of Heinrich von Stephan . Until the Second World War , the Sunday following January 7th was planned for this. After 1948 the day was moved to the last Sunday in October.
In Switzerland and Austria, the day is still celebrated in December. In 2006 the day was celebrated in Olten in Switzerland, in 2007 it was in Einsiedeln. The event in Bellinzona was planned for 2008 . The Swiss Post dedicates the day usually own stamp.
