Postage stamps 2011 of the Federal Republic of Germany
The 2011 postage stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany were put out to tender on October 5, 2009 by the responsible Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) . Between 1995 and 2010, Deutsche Post AG (DPAG) was the exclusive licensee for the official postage stamps with the national designation "Germany". This license agreement between BMF and DPAG has been extended to 2012.
License tendering process
The tender was published in the European Official Journal under the announcement number 2009 / S 192-276214 . The selection process was divided into two phases:
- Companies could apply to participate in the competition until November 6, 2009, 2:00 p.m.
- The suitable companies are asked to submit a detailed offer.
The winner of the process will have the exclusive rights to produce stamps with the name "Germany" until December 31, 2017. The Ministry of Finance can then renew the contract once for three years. The contractual partner must pay an annual fee to the BMF for this license.
List of issues and motives
In April 2010 the ministry announced that 51 special stamps, including a block issue with a single stamp and six 10 euro commemorative coins made of sterling silver (925/1000), are expected to appear. Half a year later, the 2011 annual special postage stamp program with issue dates and values was published in an updated form, in which an additional stamp on the subject of mourning was announced in October. The ministry also announced that the coins would be technically modified due to the increased silver price . As of 2011, it is no longer sterling silver with an alloy of 925 silver / 75 copper, but now 625 silver / 375 copper.
In addition, ten self-adhesive special stamps in stamp sets or stamp boxes and two new values of the definitive stamp series flowers at 75 cents and 5 euros were issued in the stamp year . The 75 cent value with the representation of a balloon flower was also made available in a large roll with 2,000 wet-adhesive postage stamps for bulk buyers. In addition, the 45-cent value from the previous year with the motif lily of the valley appeared as a self-adhesive brand set with a scent of lily of the valley.

Postal stationery
In addition to the postage stamp issues, Deutsche Post AG issues so-called postal stationery on various occasions . A distinction is made here between trade fair stationary, which are mainly offered at postage stamp exhibitions, exchanges and fairs over the period of the event, and commemorative stationary that indicate a specific occasion. These postal stationery items are mainly available from the Post Philatelic Counter or the Experience Team: Postage Stamp (as Deutsche Post AG calls its mobile special sales stands) and from the stamp collector service. The stamps printed on are called value stamps; these may have been issued in previous years.
