On the racetrack

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On the racetrack is the name of a skit performed by comedian Wilhelm Bendow and actor Franz-Otto Krüger in 1946 , in which a completely inexperienced spectator visits a racecourse and harasses another visitor with his ignorant utterances. During the race he repeatedly asks, “Where are you running?” About the horses, as he is unable to follow them through his binoculars . The original version of the sketch, Racetrack Talks , was recorded on shellac in 1926 by Bendow and comedian Paul Morgan .

The humorist Loriot used part of this sketch as a soundtrack for an animated film and made the phrase “Yes, where are you going, where are you going?” To great popularity. Loriots Auf der Rennbahn was broadcast for the first time on January 2, 1972 in the 18th episode of the cartoon television series . A recording by Bendow and Krüger can be heard as the soundtrack. The text also appeared in printed form in Loriot's compilations. The German Post 2011 brought a charity stamp out worth 55 + 25 cents with a drawing of Loriots cartoon.

Quotes

"Where are you running? My God, everything is dark with me, what is that? Oh, I've got the glass upside down ... Well, that can happen ... Where are you running, where are you running ... My God, where are you running? Where are they running? Ahh ... got a shock! I only ever see your silly face! "

"A: Aaach, is that nice ... Oh, is that nice ... Oh, the lawn is nice and green!
B: Oh, is the lawn nice and green ... Oh, the lawn is nice and green ... So, you know, don't be angry with me, but you are a seldom stupid dog!
A: who?
B: you!
A: I?
B: Yes!
A: Are you taking that back?
B: who?
A: you!
B: I?
A: Yes!
B: No!
A: Well then the matter is done for me. "
