Werner Hans Schmidt

Werner Hans Schmidt (born March 9, 1944 in Ansbach ) is a German graphic and postage stamp designer.

He lives and works in Frankfurt am Main . The first postage stamps he designed were the postage stamps for the preparation for the 1972 Summer Olympics from 1969. It was only over 30 years later, from 1999 onwards, that other postage stamp designs followed for the Deutsche Bundespost . He regards the stamp on the occasion of the death of Pope John Paul II as his most important stamp to date .

The basic line of his art is according to his own statements: Good design is subtle. It is limited to the essentials.
