2007 stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany
The 2007 stamp year of the Federal Republic of Germany comprised 59 special stamps, including six self-adhesive stamps and four stamp blocks.
No new definitive stamps from the flower series appeared , but a compilation of three values.
For the first time since 1982 there is a German postage stamp on which a living personality was depicted, it is Pope Benedict XVI. for his 80th birthday. Otherwise only the Federal President is entitled to this privilege , see also: Persons who were depicted on a postage stamp of the Federal Republic of Germany during their lifetime .
When the German team won the handball world championship in their own country , an additional block edition was published for Sport: 40 Years of the German Sports Aid Foundation . On the edge of the block are the years of the handball world championships won: 1938 , 1978 and 2007 . On November 9, 2008 in Beijing, the pad won 1st place in the Chinese election for the best foreign postage stamp in the “Best Print Quality” category.
In the vote for Germany's most beautiful postage stamp in 2007, the Limes block edition (Michel number: 2623 or block 72) from the “ UNESCO World Heritage Site ” series won first place. In the vote for the most beautiful European postage stamp, the pad came second with 14.84% of the vote. First place went to Switzerland (15.44%) with the pad: " Stamp Day - Einsiedeln Monastery " .
