Goran Rothman
Göran (Georg) Rothman (born November 30, 1739 in Husebybruk Småland , † December 3, 1778 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish naturalist and doctor. Its botanical author abbreviation is " Rothman ".
Life
His father Johan Stensson Rothman was a professor of logic and physics at the school in Växjö. Even Linnaeus went to school there. Georg Rothman studied at Uppsala University from 1757 , where he did his doctorate under Carl von Linné (Linnaeus). On May 27, 1763 he defended his dissertation on the subject: Raphania .
His research took him to the Åland Islands in 1765 and to Libya and Tunisia from 1773 to 1776 . After his return he worked as a doctor in Stockholm. He was also known as a translator of Voltaire (1694–1778) and Alexander Pope (1688–1744) into Swedish.
