Carl Fredrik Adler

Carl Fredrik Adler (born September 30, 1720 in Näsby Castle , Almby, Örebro , Sweden , † 1761 in Java ) was a Swedish naturalist and doctor.

Life

Adler studied at Uppsala University , where he did his doctorate under Carl von Linné (Linnaeus) on June 9, 1752 on the bioluminescence of Noctiluca marina .

Between 1748 and 1761 he made several trips as a surgeon on ships of the Swedish East India Company . In 1761 he died of an unknown fever off Java.

He regularly sent samples back to Linnaeus from his travels.
