The Wolfsklamm is a gorge starting a few hundred meters down the valley of the Georgenberg, which the Stanser Bach has washed into the dolomite rock of the Karwendel Mountains. It leads to the northern edge of the village of Stans , which the stream then crosses with a slight gradient, bridging a height difference of 254 meters.

The Wolfsklamm was opened up for tourism from 1901 onwards by erecting wooden footbridges at the most critical points and inaugurated on August 11, 1901. In 1936 it was completely accessible for hikers, but the entire expansion fell victim to a flood in 1950. The municipality and the local tourism association succeeded in rebuilding the facilities in 1957.

The gorge is said to have 324 (according to some sources 354) steps and ends on the mountain side at a 12 meter high weir. Above it, the visitor walks through a deciduous forest from which the pilgrimage site of St. Georgenberg can soon be recognized high above the Stanser Bach . The Stallental valley , which begins afterwards and which the same stream flows through, is part of the Karwendel Alpine Park nature reserve and is not open to tourist inspection along the water.

From a botanical point of view, the gorge is of interest because of some canyon pioneer plants that inhabit the constantly damp rock walls, for example Primula auricula .

The hike through is subject to a toll (toll station on the outskirts of Stans, notice board at the upper entrance) and closed from November to April.
