The Stallental is a side valley of the Inn Valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol . The valley extends in the southeastern Karwendel for a length of 10 kilometers in a west-east direction between the Lamsenspitze and Stans in the Inn valley .

From a height of about 1200  m above sea level. A. to the Inn valley, the valley is traversed by the Stallenbach , which forms a gorge in this area. Further above, in the area of ​​the stable floor , there is also a stream bed, but water only flows here after heavy rainfall. The lower part of the brook gorge is called Wolfsklamm and is accessible via a fee-based climbing system. A little above the Wolfsklamm you are enthroned on a rock on the left side of the valley at 898  m above sea level. A. the Abbey of St. Georgenberg , a monastery and place of pilgrimage. The part of the gorge between St. Georgenberg and the Stallenboden is not accessible. It also flows here at about 880  m above sea level. A. the Gamsbach , which flows through the deeply cut Gamsgartenklamm , into the Stallenbach.

From a height of 1200  m above sea level. A. changes the character of the valley. The brook gorge turns into a wide pasture ground interspersed with trees and bushes, the stable floor . The trees there (50 to 300 years old) were felled in October / November 2013 by order of the Fiecht Benedictine monastery. The procedure met with criticism due to the sustained change in the landscape, but was legitimately approved by the Schwaz district administration. At the eastern end of the stable floor is located at 1340  m above sea level. A. the Stallenalm , which is open in summer. Here the Grubachgraben flows into the Stallental from the north . Above the Stallenalm, rubble and crooked wood increasingly dominate the valley. In the uppermost stable valley is at 1953  m above sea level. A. the Lamsenjochhütte of the German Alpine Club .

From around St. Georgenberg into the valley, the valley is part of the Karwendel Alpine Park nature reserve .

mountains

In the south, the Stallental is framed by the eastern Hinterautal-Vomper chain . The mountains drop with steep walls towards the Stallental. The highest mountain here is the Hochnissl , to the east of it the Mittagsspitze ( 2332  m above sea level ) and the Fiechterspitze are among the more famous peaks. The Lamsenspitze is located at the western end of the valley . On the northern side of the valley, the Raue Knöll lies between the Stallental and the Grubachgraben. Other well-known elevations on the north side are the Rappenspitze and the Stanser Joch , which are noticeable from the Inn Valley due to the avalanche barriers in the summit area.
