The Raue Knöll is 2278 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Rauer-Knöll branch in the Karwendel , which is named after this elevation. This mountain is also the highest in the south-eastern side group of the Karwendel in Tyrol .
The mountain lies between the Stallental in the south and southeast and the Falzthurntal in the north. To the northeast of the Rauen Knöll lies the Lunstkopf ( 2143 m above sea level ), from which the Raue Knöll is separated by the Lunstsattel . To the southwest, separated by the Schneiderkarscharte , the Rauen Knöll is preceded by the Schafjöchl ( 2157 m above sea level ).
The ascent of the Rauen Knöll is not easy on either side and requires climbing in the second degree of the UIAA scale over the west flank , over the north-east ridge from Lunstsattel or from the south-west Lamsenjochhütte the III. Degree.
