Johan Stensson Rothman

Johan Stensson Rothman (born February 24, 1684 in Växjö ; † July 20, 1763 ibid) was a Swedish doctor and teacher and private teacher of Carl von Linné .

Life

Rothman began in 1703 at Uppsala University a . a. to study with Olof Rudbeck the Younger and Lars Roberg , both of whom later gradually became Linnaeus' teachers. After completing his studies, he traveled to the Netherlands in 1713 and took his doctoral examination at the University of Harderwijk . His disputation Observatt. Rothman fulfilled the obligation and was thus a teacher at the local high school from 1720. In addition, he continued to work as a provincial doctor, and although he went blind as early as 1749, he practiced as a doctor until 1755.

The Swedish naturalist Göran Rothman was his son and one of twelve children.
