Postage stamps 2016 of the Federal Republic of Germany

The 2016 stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany were presented on December 3, 2014 by the responsible Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF). The year should contain 52 stamps.

In October 2015, Deutsche Post AG again applied to the Federal Network Agency to increase postage as of January 1, 2016 for a standard letter to EUR 0.70 and the maxi letter from EUR 2.40 to EUR 2.60. Approval was granted in early December, making it the fourth consecutive increase. Due to this increase, there will be no further increases ( price cap decision ) for three years (up to and including 2018) according to the will of the Federal Network Agency .

Deutsche Post recalled a misprint of the Christmas balls brand dated November 30, 2016 because a typo was noticed. On May 12, 2017, a complete sheet of foil with ten stamps at 0.70 euros each was auctioned for 33,000 euros at the Essen stamp fair.
