1995 stamps issued by the Federal Republic of Germany
The 1995 stamp year of the Federal Republic of Germany is the first German stamp year that no longer bears the full name of the Deutsche Bundespost , but instead the national name of Germany from May 5, 1995 .
All of the 62 stamps issued were originally valid for unlimited postage . With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete.
The stamps of this year could be used up until June 30th, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th, 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.
particularities
Although the Deutsche Bundespost was converted into Deutsche Post AG as a result of the privatization on January 1, 1995 , the postage stamps carried in the first four months (January 12, February 9, March 9 and some of the April 6 issues) ) still the old name; It was not until May 5th that all new brands bore the designation Germany.
It was the first complete year in which the stamps, with the exception of the permanent series stamp, which was normally produced in rolls, were only printed on miniature sheets (= ten stamps in a 2 × 5 or 5 × 2 arrangement). In previous years there were the so-called "normal stamp sheets " that had either 25, 50 or 100 stamps.
As before, the issuer of the brands was the Federal Ministry of Post and Telecommunications , which existed until 1997; only then was this task taken over by the Federal Ministry of Finance . Deutsche Post AG is only responsible for distribution and sales.
For the first time a stamp was issued in honor of the German soccer champions in 1995 , → Borussia Dortmund .
