Albrecht von Bodecker

Albrecht von Bodecker (born April 27, 1932 in Dresden ) is a German graphic artist. He was a professor and director of the Leipzig School of Graphics and Book Art .

Life

Bodecker spent his school days and youth in Ludwigslust in Mecklenburg . Between 1949 and 1951 he received his first drawing lessons from Hermann Schepler in Techentin and Karstädt . This was followed by training at the technical college for applied arts in Wismar and Heiligendamm until 1954 . Until his de-registration in 1957 "for reasons of cultural policy", he studied with Kurt Robbel , Bert Heller and Gabriele Mucchi at the University of Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin-Weißensee . Between 1958 and 1961 he continued his studies at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg with Friedrich Stabenau. He had to break off his studies on August 13, 1961 due to the construction of the Berlin Wall .

Since then he has worked as a freelance graphic artist for many book publishers in the GDR and designed a. a. Event posters. In 1989 he received the GDR Art Prize .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, his diploma was subsequently recognized by the Weißensee School of Art. In 1991 Bodecker was given a teaching position at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig for nature studies and design in the graphic design department, and since 1993 a professorship. Between 1994 and 1997 he was rector of the university. Since his retirement in 1998 he has been working as a freelance artist again. He also created a postage stamp for the German Post (Michel no. 1805).
