Wolf Spillner
Wolf Spillner (born May 30, 1936 in Herzberg am Harz ) is a German nature photographer and writer .
At the age of 13 he moved with his mother to a country house in the Lüneburg Heath ; at 16 he was orphaned. In protest against the rearmament of the Federal Republic of Germany, he moved to the GDR in 1955 . He lived in the natural landscape of Mecklenburg and was a co-founder of the Drispeth artists' colony . Today Wolf Spillner lives in Ludwigslust .
Spillner initially worked as a journalist . He later pursued ornithological studies and was considered one of the most prominent nature photographers in the GDR. He dedicated himself in particular to the observation of sea eagles . Influenced by Werner Lindemann , he became the author of books for children and young people , some of which were made into films. His most famous book Taube Klara was translated into 8 languages and was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 1991 .
Based on his book Dipper , the film Biologie was made in 1990 ! (Working title: The dipper ).
