action

Shortly before the end of the GDR, two young people met in a small town. Ulla is the daughter of an employee from the city council and Winfried's father is the general manager of a large company. The meeting point for the two is a stream in an untouched nature area. Here one day Ulla discovers that a weekend house is being set up in a lonely forest clearing. In addition, the stream is dammed in the vicinity in order to set up a trout farm there. Both of these excite Ulla, who is sensitized to environmental protection by her teacher, Mr. Hansen, and she begins to rebel against it with small actions. During a barbecue on the forest property, she has to realize that the builders of the weekend house are Winfried's parents.

But Ulla hopes to have an ally in Winfried, with whom she spends the first night together at the brook, and wants to organize an exhibition for nature conservation at the next fair for the masters of tomorrow 's school. However, this project does not meet with approval from the state authorities, as the construction work in the forest was only approved on the basis of the relationship with the General Director. Even Ulla's mother is now against her, because suddenly the family should be assigned a new apartment. But Ulla, who recognizes this as a bribe, is not deterred. She even went so far as to have Winfried fake a photo to pretend that a dipper is breeding in the affected area.

At the opening of the exhibition, Winfried removes the photo and explains to all visitors that it is a fake. Ulla is now alone, because nobody dares to stand up against the influential man. As a punishment, the already granted admission to the extended secondary school will be withdrawn. Even her mother and stepfather turn away from Ulla. But she has awakened understanding among her classmates and together they are now advocating the preservation of nature.
