Carl Heinz Choynski

Carl Heinz Choynski (born May 31, 1936 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is a German actor .

Life

Carl Heinz Choynski, initially a telecommunications mechanic at the Deutsche Reichsbahn , completed an acting training at the State Drama School in Berlin from 1962 to 1964 . After graduating, he got his first engagement at the Elbe-Elster-Theater , a guest theater with its headquarters in Lutherstadt Wittenberg . In 1965 Choynski moved to the Berliner Ensemble , of which he was a permanent member until 1993.

In 1968 he made his film debut in Egon Günther's Farewell . From then on, Choynski was in front of the camera for numerous DFF productions . After the reunification he was able to build on his success. He was involved in numerous German television series and series such as Liebling Kreuzberg , Praxis Bülowbogen , Tatort or Großstadtrevier . Choynski often embodies grumpy or cynical retirees. He played the role of Grandpa Hermi in the ARD early evening series Turkish for Beginners . This was followed by roles in films such as Der Wixxer , Männerherzen and The Book Thief .

Choynski lives in Berlin.
