Klaus Rohleder

Klaus Kurt Rohleder (born June 9, 1935 in Waltersdorf near Neumühle; † September 5, 2013 in Sicily , Italy ) was a German farmer and author .

Life

In the GDR Rohleder was forcibly a member of the LPG and had his property restituted after the political change in 1989.

In the GDR Rohleder belonged to the opposition Greizer circle around Günter Ullmann , Harald Seidel and Ibrahim Böhme and was also close friends with Jürgen Fuchs . His texts, which realistically reflect life in the GDR, were recognized, but it was not until 1988 before the play Das Fest was performed at the Berliner Volksbühne . In 1991 he received the Ludwig Mülheim Theater Prize .

In 2006 he worked on the opera La Neuberin in Catania with the Sicilian composer Joe Schittino , which was performed in 2007 at the Stelzenfestspiele and in the Mildenfurth monastery near Wünschendorf, and in 2009 the oratorio Wasser, which became the wall . On November 9, 2009, on the occasion of the XVI. Else Lasker-Schüler-Forum in Catania the work In Exile - Places of Remembrance premiered.

Rohleder was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2011 .
