action

Carola Huflattich is in 4th grade. She is not what you would expect from a good girl. The parents Coltsfoot and the teachers have their dear worries with Carola. They wish that Carola would be a little nicer after all. Her mother wants Carola to put on a nice dress one day . But Carola doesn't want to know anything about any of this. Her grades are not the best, and so there is an argument with her mother. Fortunately, Carola has her best friend Willi, even if Carola's ideas sometimes get a little too much for him.

One day when Carola tumbles, falls over and destroys the chair in class, she is sent to the basement to get a new one. It's pretty scary in the basement, and so Carola imagines that there is a ghost there that she would put in her pocket. Back in her class, she hears a voice out of her pocket, from exactly where she put her imaginary ghost.

The ghost wants a body from Carola, so she draws a ghost on the blackboard. The ghost is initially happy that it is now visible. But then it sees how badly Carola can draw. The ghost would much rather look very cute, with nice bows in his hair and a dress. Of course, Carola can't do anything with such ideas. Eventually both of them come up with the idea of swapping. Carola would like to haunt around as a ghost, and the ghost could then wear clothes in her body and go to class. Carola only wants to go back to her old body during the sports lessons and during the breaks. By looking into a hand mirror that the teacher had forgotten in the classroom and the “magic” words Bu Hu , they both swap bodies.

At first, Carola likes life as a ghost. She haunts the school and plays tricks on the teachers. But then she sees what the spirit is doing in her body. This is a very ambitious student and makes herself popular with the teachers and their parents. The father would like to have his old companionable daughter back soon. The ghost is also very bitchy and unfriendly towards classmates. Then Carola would like to change bodies again, but the spirit does not even think of going back to its old body. To prevent this from happening, the ghost gives the mirror back to the teacher.

Carola is now trying everything to get back to the mirror. Fortunately, she can convince Willi that she is now in the spirit body. Together they manage to outsmart the ghost and get to the mirror. In this way Carola can transform herself back again. But the mind also gets away well with it. They promise to always bring math homework down to the basement, and Carola will bring him all of her clothes too.

Reviews

“... full of poetry and wit; The everyday reality of children is confidently and imaginatively broken, exaggerated into the comedic and ironic. Many scenes are written on punch lines; the film has an enormous pace. "

- Ralf Schenk : The world stage

“Many surprises, some cheerful and serious entanglements, enjoyable cinematic ideas, fantasy and lightness characterize this strip. His quintessence: the most important thing is to remain true to yourself. "

- Ehrentraud Novotny : Berliner Zeitung

“… A nice film with picturesque images. He has wit, suspense and captures children's book poetry. The ghost is not a monster that emerges from a UFO, but looks as if it came from a cartoon box, painted with a naive pen. "

- Bettina Naber : Hamburger Abendblatt
