Flicker hour

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The flicker hour was a children's program on the first program on GDR television .

The program, which was broadcast from September 14, 1959 until the end of GDR television, had its fixed broadcasting slot initially on Mondays at 4 p.m., later on Saturdays at around 2 p.m.

At the beginning of each program, Professor Flimmrich ( Walter E. Fuß ) reported on the latest and still in progress children's films and showed excerpts. Then he showed, in addition to reports and documentaries, a feature film . After Fuß withdrew from television for health reasons in 1980, Helmut Schreiber gave the show. In later years, the offer was mostly limited to the feature film. At regular intervals, however, the topic of a shown film was critically discussed with children and young people in the studio. Between 1985 and 1989, Marita Gerasch , partly disguised as the sympathetic witch Barbarina, moderated the flicker lesson.
