Johann Georg Haruckern also Johann Georg Harruckern (born March 25, 1664 in Schenkenfelden ; † April 18, 1742 in Vienna ) was a Habsburg court chamber councilor , chief team of the Békés county , builder of the fortress Arad and imperial knight of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation .

Life

Johann Georg Haruckern was born in the Upper Austrian town of Schenkenfelden near Linz as the son of a simple master weaver . He was the sixth of a total of seven children.

Johann Georg Haruckern came in 1692 as an imperial commissioner for the army catering. Three years later, Haruckern became the imperial army supervisor . In 1697 he came to Arad as a representative of the court chamber . Here he supervised the construction of the fortress for four years , where he was primarily responsible for financial matters. In 1701 Haruckern was promoted to lieutenant colonel and sent to Italy . From 1708 he was in charge of supplying the army in the Netherlands for five years . After he was appointed court chamber councilor in 1710 , Haruckern was in charge of supplying the army during the decisive battles against the Turks from 1716 . In the war year 1718, Emperor Karl VI. the title Imperial Knight .

On March 28, 1722, Haruckern received Hungarian citizenship and on May 3, 1723, Emperor Karl VI./König Karl III. Due to the Hungarian nobility law, the Gyula manor . In 1729 Haruckern was given the title of baron . After a donation by King Charles III. Baron von Haruckern owned 95 villages in the counties of Békés , Zaránd and Arad counties . After the death of Obergespans Johann Jakob Löwenburg, Baron Johann Georg von Haruckern succeeded him as Obergespan of Békés County, an office that he held until his death in 1742. Baron von Haruckern was married to Maria Fellner, the marriage had four daughters and one son, Baron Franz von Haruckern.

Johann Georg Haruckern found his final resting place in the crypt of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna . After his death, his son, Baron Franz von Haruckern, took over the property and the office of the Obergespans.
