Postage stamp year 1968 of the Deutsche Bundespost
The postage stamp year 1968 of the Deutsche Bundespost comprised 30 different issues. Four motifs of the same image and value were also published by the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin . This year consisted only of special stamps ; new definitive stamps were not issued.
Four of these stamps were only available together as a stamp block to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of the first Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany , Konrad Adenauers . In the same year, a second Federal German special stamp was issued for the first time on the same occasion. Konrad Adenauer was also honored with its own special stamp in 1976 and 1992.
In 1968 there was the last expiry date for the postage validity for postage stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost. Five exceptions were the special stamps that were issued in the run-up to the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City . These stamps could be used indefinitely. With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete. These stamps and all subsequent editions could be used until June 30, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th, 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.
