The three stamp blocks with Christmas stamps |
The Christmas stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost were issued annually from 1969 to 1994 by the Deutsche Bundespost as a special stamp with a surcharge for charitable purposes . As of 1989 there were two or more brands. Three of these stamps were only available as a stamp pad . All stamps were valid for postage until June 30, 2002 .
The issue of the Christmas stamps is continued by the successors of the Deutsche Bundespost until today in the series Christmas stamps of the Federal Republic of Germany :
“Ladies and gentlemen, the Christmas stamps are sold - this has been a fine tradition for more than three decades - with a surcharge in favor of welfare. This money goes directly to the social work of the charities [sic!]. Christmas stamps help people to help other people. "
