Postage stamps from 1959 of the Deutsche Bundespost Saarland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The postage stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost Saarland were issued from 1957 to 1959 after the incorporation of the Saarland into the Federal Republic of Germany. These stamps became necessary because the Saar franc, or franc for short, was the currency in the state of Saarland until July 5, 1959 . Therefore, the stamps of Saarland are characterized firstly by specifying Saarland and secondly by the denomination  F from. All stamps, with the exception of the 1957 issue of the Heuss, Saarland (I) series , bear this currency symbol.

The vintage 1959 included four  special stamps , definitive stamps were not issued.
