1950s stamps from Saarland
The Saarland's 1950 stamp year comprised 15 special stamps . Definitive stamps were not issued.
After the Second World War , Saarland was a semi-autonomous country under the protectorate of France from December 1947 to the end of 1956 . Since it was economically attached to France (until July 1959), the French franc was the currency. In the history of the Saarland there had already been a separation from Germany under Napoleon I and from 1920 to 1935 as Saarland (League of Nations) .
