particularities
- Special stamps
The emission of special postage stamps increased significantly compared to the previous year. In this year, political topics (May 1st, popular election, peacekeeping), historical events (Bach birthday, academy anniversary and Mansfeld copper slate mining) and GDR sport (1st winter sports championships) were honored - a range of topics that already covered future spending policy of the GDR essentially outlines. Almost all stamps now carry the country indication "German Democratic Republic", only the block for the German Postage Stamp Exhibition (DEBRIA) has a motif of the GDR stamp for the day of the stamp in 1949, which still has the designation "Deutsche Post".
