Postage stamps from 1956 issued by the GDR Deutsche Post
Stamp pad 1956 | |
70th birthday of Ernst Thälmann Michel block number 14 |
The postage stamp year 1956 of the Deutsche Post of the German Democratic Republic comprises 48 special stamps and a stamp block, the stamp of which was also issued as a single value.
With the exception of the last two values of the year, which already have the new watermark No. 3 ( GDR around finial ), this year was printed on paper with the watermark No. 2 (GDR and post horn ). A total of 44 motifs were issued. Three special stamps were issued with a surcharge between 10 and 80 Pf. (1 DM in total ), and the stamp block 14 was issued at twice the nominal value.
Since 1955 , a value, and almost all were in most special stamp sets usually block and from 1962 appeared little sheet issues in significantly reduced edition printed. These so-called values in small circulation were, apart from a delivery limited to two items per postal customer, on the first day of issue and on the first day after the expiry of the collection period, only with a collector's pass at the post office counters or via a direct purchase from the dispatch point of the Deutsche Post available in Berlin . In this brand year, the circulation of these values was 750,000 and from Mi. 286 1,000,000. From Mi. In 538 1,200,000 copies were printed.
The validity of the issues mostly ended on March 31, 1958; The spending on the anniversary of the Carl-Zeiss-Werke Jena, the Tierpark Berlin and international solidarity lasted a year longer. By contrast, the incorrect first edition for Robert Schumann expired on September 30, 1956.
particularities
The number of special stamps roughly corresponded to the previous year. In the Olympic year, a total of eight motifs for sporting events - including two values for the Summer Olympics in Melbourne, in which GDR athletes took part in an all-German team for the first time ( 1952 still without GDR athletes), appeared on the counter. Anniversaries of famous personalities were honored on eight stamps, whereby the values on the 100th anniversary of the death of the composer Robert Schumann were initially given notes by Franz Schubert in the brand fund, so that the issue came back to the counter after a correction. The traditional two editions for the Leipzig trade fairs are also included again in this year. The anti-fascist gesture of GDR politics was to be documented in the brand image with issues for Ernst Thälmann's 70th birthday and the construction of the Buchenwald concentration camp memorial. Finally, the motif collectors were given a six-value edition for the zoo in Berlin with images of animals and a set of four values for the opening of air traffic in the GDR with images of three aircraft of the GDR airline Deutsche Lufthansa .
