Axel Bengs (* 1925 or 1926 in Berlin ; † 1988 ) was a German graphic artist . He was involved in the design of a large number of postage stamps for the GDR Deutsche Post .

Life

Between 1940 and 1943 Bengs completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer . After the Second World War, he studied from 1948 to 1950 at the master school for graphics in Berlin and from 1950 to 1955 at the art college in Berlin-Weißensee . Then he worked as a freelancer.
