Cycling on postage stamps of the German Post of the GDR

The cycling in the GDR was on several stamps of the German post office of the GDR appreciated and was one of the sports most commonly depicted on commemorative stamps of the GDR.

Most of the editions were made to honor the " International Peace Tour "

  • From 1952 to 1957 at least one special stamp was issued every year (Friedensfahrt 5 to 10)
  • thereafter only every five years (Friedensfahrt 15 and 20)
  • The last issue was in 1977 for the 30th Peace Tour

Cycling was featured five times on postage stamps for the Olympic Games .

There were three special stamps on the topic outside of the above-mentioned events.
